Before my daughter was born I read a book about the Montessori approach and it kinda blew my mind. So much about Maria Montessori's ideas resonated with me not just in how I wanted to raise my daughter, but also artistically. Her respect for beautiful objects and spaces, and learning from hands on experience all spoke to me. When my daughter arrived we started trying out some Montessori-at-home ideas. Pretty soon I was entertaining the idea of becoming a Montessori teacher. I found myself at an information session at West Side Montessori School's Teacher Education Program swooning over what was presented. I left that meeting quite sure that I was to enroll. In the summer of 2018, I began a life changing year-long intensive which landed me an Early Childhood AMS credential in 2019.
My passion for the world of Montessori continues and my two worlds of painting and teaching are now wonderfully interconnected as I work with young children who inspire and challenge me, and make me laugh on a daily basis.
